How many years before we start using laser or plasma rifle in the wars? Is someone trying to invent them now?
No laser guided bombs. Guns that shoot lasers out! Laser to kill or burn people.
You're talking about phasers you saw in Star Trek and Light sabers from Star Wars. Both are technically possible, but are far from being practically in society acheivable today. Ray weapons / phasers will need a large supply of energy to be used in a shotgun. Currently, only portable power supplies that we know of able to provide enough energy for a Phaser is a hydrogen bomb. And, well, I do not think I need to determine why it is not practical. Light sabers are also possible - The idea was to provide a stick from the base. All along this rod holes are drilled through it. To create light ', It is proposed that we use plasma, plasma, and that will escape from the rod through the holes - thus creating a stick "of light capable of cutting through solid steel. However, this still would require an insane amount of energy - As something has to create super-heated ionized gas ... So the big problem with these technologies is creating 'power' - no power source current There are still powerful enough to power these portable devices.
