Armature Springfield XD45 - what gunsmiths use to remove the stock sights?
I have a crib Springfield XD45 that I wanted to install TruGlo TFO sights on. However, the images were wedged in tight match. I bought a $ 100 sight pusher tool to remove stock footage, but it actually set, and sights not budge. This is the tool I used: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=163458 I finally gave up and sent it, and looks at a professional gunsmith for installation. Now, I've bought another XD45, and again, I want to put different sights on it. What can be gunsmiths using take out the stock images of handguns?
Sometimes the heat and cold will help to break the view free dovetail. One way to do is to heat the outside area with a heat gun, then chill quickly view butane or another aerosol. butane chill quickly but is obviously very flammable, so use more carefully if using it to avoid any open flames or sources of combustion. You can also place the slide refrigerator, then heat the outside area around the match. Only a few ideas that might help.
