What shotgun to get for home?

Should I get a Charles Daly Field tactical with ghost sights with (i think if i remember correctly from what i've been told by the gun owner) a pistol stock or should I get the mossberg 500 with the heat shield?

The charles daly is only $350 which I'm able to afford yet the mossberg is $409 (5-round) or $419 (8-round) which is abit out of my range. And what are the taxes for the tampa area in florida for guns? I heard the prices and they seem pricey and it's my first. All answers appreciated thank you!

Sounds like he's charging the mossberg 590 (thats the military model) price for the 500. Sure its worth a few extra bucks for the 8-shot compared to the 5-shot, but the heat shield is a useless gimmick that will make you look in the eyes of the law & press like a vigilante commando with para-military delusions should you ever have to use the thing in self-defence.

In any case, any mossberg beats out the Charles, which as someone said is not a proven fighting gun. The Rem 870 is equally recommended as the mossberg, the winchester Defender is just a bit behind but still a smooth-functioning, reliable pump action with 8-shot capacity. Stick to these Big 3 and you can't go wrong.
