Warehouse 13 is a series that draws upon many other shows in the past. Such as "X-Files",& "The Dresden Files". While borrowing elements from the current "Eureka". 13 isn't original, but it is something worthwhile to check out. As two federal agents who are recruited by a mysterious woman who is portrayed by CCH Pounder. They find themselves being bossed around by a somewhat loner Artie Nielsen who is played by Saul Rubinek. The only catch to their job is to gather a rather odd collection of objects. From the bizarre to the mysterious, then store them in the most massive Warehouse on earth.
The "Pilot" episode is a two hour event (with commercials) that introduces the two main characters who are polar opposites when it comes to their jobs. The first episode in my opinion was both a success and a failure. Of course, many pilots are. The episode present's itself as trying to do subplots but only towards the end finally settling with finding a hair piece that controls people. All the while, the show tries to be funny but at times falls flat on it's face. The acting on the other hand is good enough. Im not expecting great acting because that would just be overkill, but good enough that the acting does not distract the casual viewer.
The show is somewhat unique in it's own way. Such as that they are given cylinders to store the objects they find, given a Tesla type pistol that stuns on contact as well as give them short term memory lost. A two way video chat device that is rather old, and some other things that are yet to be presented in more episodes to come.
At the end, "Warehouse 13" is a show that can either find itself being canceled or a show that can prove it's worth as a science fiction show. Sure the show has its faults, but it should not be over-shadowed by other great shows such as "Battlestar Galactica" and "Eureka". The show can stand on it's own two feet, now we just have to wait and see if the show can move forward.
